Planning for an overseas market? Choose your country and local setup route. Check where you operate separately from where your customers live.
A narrow, repeatable deliverable makes the first service easier to evaluate.
Choose an output you can demonstrate
Examples include editing an approved document, laying out a simple page or organising client-supplied product information. Pick work within your competence. Show a sample you created and label it clearly; do not invent a client commission or claim a result you have not measured.
Define file formats, inputs, revision rounds and acceptance. “Improve your brand” is broad; “deliver a two-page style reference from approved materials” is easier to assess. The example is a planning exercise, not a recommended price package.
Design the client handoff
- Use a clear brief and confirm who approves the work.
- Ask only for access needed to perform the task.
- Use appropriate account invitations rather than collecting passwords in an open form.
- Agree where files are stored and how the final version is identified.
- Record what maintenance or support is outside the deliverable.
If the work involves sensitive data or regulated advice, reassess the scope and applicable requirements. “Digital” does not mean every activity is unregulated.
Measure revision time
Track drafting, meetings, revisions and administration separately during a pilot. If clarification takes longer than production, improve the brief before accepting more orders. If every delivery is different, a standard package may need narrower boundaries.
Use a simple change log: request, effect on scope, agreed decision and revised date. Do not silently absorb unlimited work or make unilateral changes to a client’s live site.
Connect the website to a real process
A useful service page explains the output, shows honest samples and provides a monitored next step. The service-page lesson and enquiry workflow help connect those pieces.
A page-and-email platform can organise introductions and follow-up. Delivery files, project access and specialist production work still need a suitable process. Complete local registration and tax checks for your circumstances before trading.
Your next action
- Deliverable, file format and sample evidence
- Inputs and approval owner
- Access and file handoff plan
- Revision boundary and change log
- Actual pilot hours by task
Keep observations, assumptions and official responses separate. A completed worksheet is preparation, not approval or evidence of future income.
