First, choose your route
If you already have a useful skill, a small service is a practical starting point: you can describe the work before building a large product. If you want to recommend other people’s products, use the affiliate beginner guide. Neither route guarantees quick income.
1. Write one sentence about your offer
Fill this in: “I help [person] with [specific task]. They receive [deliverable]. The next step is [contact action].”
“I help local cafés improve their English menu descriptions. You receive edits for up to 20 items. Send your current menu to request a quote.”
Choose work you can actually do. Define scope, timing and price before accepting an order. Write your own version in the page planner.
2. Put the essentials on a page
Include your sentence, what is included, a genuine sample and one contact button. You can use an existing website. If you need a builder, read our plain-language tool review.
Start with a template you understand. Replace every sample name, image and claim. A simple accurate page is ready sooner than a complex unfinished one.
3. Test before inviting anyone
- Open the page on a phone. Can you read the offer and tap the button?
- Send a test using your own email. Check that it arrives.
- Reply to the test. Check that the reply reaches the sender.
- If taking payments, confirm provider eligibility and test checkout before launch.
4. Find relevant people and be helpful
Share the page on a business profile you control, or in a community that permits relevant promotion. Answer a real question with something useful. Ask existing contacts whether they want details before sending a pitch.
Example: “I made a short checklist for clearer café menus. Here is one tip: describe the main ingredients first. If you would like help editing your menu, my service details are here.” Use this only where it fits and sharing is allowed.
5. Reply, agree the work, then deliver
Ask what the person needs, confirm scope and price, and explain the next step. Use the three reply templates as a starting point. Keep track of inquiries and agreed orders in a simple note.
If nobody responds, ask someone in your intended audience what is unclear. Improve the offer or where you share it before adding more software.
